The Elbow Room presents what is the strongest urban line up of any club night this New Year’s Eve. With 2 of the UK’s most respected club & radio DJs in DJ 279 and DJ MK joined by Stacked residents DJ Lok & D.Bo this is sure to be the go to gig for London’s Hip-Hop heads.

DJ 279 boasts the UK’s longest running Hip-Hop radio show, Choice FM’s Friday Night Flavas, which has seen him nominated for 4 MOBO awards and winning 2007’s UMA for best Radio DJ. When not in the studio he might be found in any corner of the UK or the globe spinning to packed clubs often for urban music’s A-list including Jay-Z, P.Diddy, Method Man, Talib Kweli and tonight he blesses those wise enough to buy a ticket with a trademark set of dance-floor bangers.

Another of the champions of Hip-Hop on the UK’s airwaves is DJ MK who first came to prominence on the underground through his now legendary mixtapes compiled of the records he spent many years selling in London’s independent record stores. These mixes not only brought him to the attention of Kiss FM but also to a then unknown Roots Manuva with who he now travels the world as his DJ. More than happy to put in the hours and the miles MK is as likely to be heard cutting up doubles in Dubai as Dublin as only he can.

As the men who responsible for keeping Saturday nights at The Elbow Room bumping DJ Lok & D.Bo know what this crowd are after and always deliver. With years of experience playing the very best in Hip-Hop, R&B & Bashment between them they are sure to keep the club packed as people see the new year in with a smile on their face and a shuffle in the feet.

JACK FLASH

An eclectic line up featuring the cream of US underground hiphop and the UK's best up and comers. Brooklyn to The Bay and back to Brixton!

Ill Bill is a Brooklyn hiphop legend who has worked with everyone from Primo to Bad Brains, MF Doom to Slayer; a fierce MC with an intellect to match. After solidifying his big dog status on the underground with his former group Non Phixion's classic The Future is Now, Bill has since been grinding out solo projects (incl. 2008's amazing The Hour of Reprisal) that showcase his intricate flows and subject matter that falls somewhere between the best socio-political efforts of the 90's and his brother Necro's psychosis fuelled violence and bongo flick narratives . The self proclaimed '2011 Melle Mel' is also one of the founders of La Coka Nostra and on this night is joined by mic bludgeoner Big Left also from the aforementioned supergroup (also includes House of Pain and others).

Zion I hail from Oakland CA and in the tradition of the Bay Area, a microcosm of any and every kind of hiphop, they're very much in their own lane. Bringing sunshine to a cold Brixton, they make the kind of music that reminds you why you fell in love with hiphop; Jamm is honoured to be hosting their first UK show! The duo of MC Zumbi and producer Amplive are about to drop their 6th album (The Takeover) including a fonky collab with the UK's own Jamie Lidell and the 808 slap of single Juicy Juice, already rattling trunks worldwide. NOT BE MISSED!

Stig & Syntax aka Fatty and Speccy - the Beer & Rap bombers have gotten themselves a rep for smashing live shows, parlaying a wicked sense of humour through ricockulous flows and takin' no shorts. Who said hiphop from the UK isn't fun?

The Clown Prince

The Clown Prince

‘Put Em Up’ EP

Boxing and weaving their way to the front of the funkiest and coolest of London’s music elite is The Clown Prince; an unsigned band formed in East London. Frontman CHiF received critical acclaim with his debut EP ‘Soon Come’ and now cranks things up a notch with this sophomore release with sidekick Neel The Wiz.

Described as AfRaPunK, The Clown Prince blends punk rebellion with hip hop swagger, armed with East London clamor and costume glamour, 2009 will be the year to watch this rare and royal band set the UK scene alight.

‘Put Em Up’ celebrates being young, going out with your mates and generally having a good time, with sing-a-long catchy choruses akin to an East End knees up in a pub in Hoxton.

Having just completed a mini tour of the East Coast of the United States with a full band, recorded new songs and shot an exclusive video with Hip-Hop’s director of the moment Parrish (Goreela ) for their brand new single, The Clown Prince are bringing the mad circus back to Europe.

Favourite Girl is released Feb 09 on Mizchif Records

What the critics say:

“Those of you who have welcomed musical experimentation from the likes of
Outkast and Kanye West will definitely find something to entertain you here.”

– Ryan Proctor, Blues & Soul Magazine

“Unpredictable beats and subject matter makes for some different and interesting hip-hop, this Chif is real good and mad different.”

– Russell Myrie, The Voice

“A musician’s producer. A unique artist leading the new wave of UK Hip Hop with his definitive stamp of authority on it. Definitely one to watch.” – Nesha, BBC Radio 1Xtra
